A contact of mine is putting together a team of people to help implement a
project of his. He is looking for a few skilled people. However this is not
a small project and is not a normal network or coding project. If you're
interested, read on, and then email me OFFLIST.

I'm just relaying some of the limited knowledge I have on the project thus
far. So be aware the following may not be 100% accurate.

The project has a large scale. It will encompass some custom coding (in C++),
some web interface work (language undetermined at this time), some database
work (again, not determined yet), and some serious networking and servers.

Basically, the project is going to need 2 or 3 clusters. At least one for
high availability, and one for high performance. We are looking at a network
with NO downtime once running, using off the shelf hardware.

The network will be dealing with some serious volumes of data - approx 50 GB
of data on each update, and many updates a day. These large blocks of data
are then stored and processed to come up with detailed reporting type data.
At which point a web interface will use the processed data. The project is
in it's infancy so all aspects of it need to be implemented. (other than the
planning stages - my contact has that well handled already).

There is room for a few people here:

- a couple of sysadmins / network engineers (I know of one already who is
interested)
- a couple of C++ developers
- a couple of Web developers
- a DBA (which might be one of the previously listed people)

This is a long term project with an immediate need to get the core
functionality up and running in the next 3 months. The people involved will
have time to balance other customers (if they are self employed), and the
project does not absolutely require on-site work. He is more interested in
results (and deadlines).

Needless to say, this type of project will entail some serious money. Read
that how you will.

If you think you fit one of the roles, and are interested, email me offlist
saying so, and what your schedule next week is like. We need to plan a
meeting ASAP. Also, there will be one or two NDA's involved.

I will not respond to any messages in this thread on the mailing list.

Shawn
