I have a 2 gig OCZ (screaming fast) that is formatted the same as
Shawns. I have in the past had better luck reformatting my USB keys, at
least as far as auto mounting them goes. I use either vfat or ext2 as
the fs btw (there is a good ext2 driver for windows). My OCZ works fine
for me, though I do not have a stock setup.

Try mounting the drive manually
mount -t vfat /dev/sdc /path/to/some/mount/point -o
umask=0000,noatime,nodiratime

Does this work?
