Hi All,

Just a reminder about next Wednesday's meeting @ DeVry.

Start: 2006-09-06 18:45  End: 2006-09-06 21:45
Event Contact: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Speaker: Greg King, One Network Inc.
Topic: WAN Acceleration

Companies usually link remote offices through wide area networks (WANs) and
distributed IT infrastructure. Yet in many cases, the effects of low
bandwidth and high latency mean applications that run well locally are all
but unusable on a WAN, so your remote offices are constantly struggling with
poor application performance. Furthermore, the cost of maintaining
distributed IT is very high.

A new category of appliance delivering "wide area data services" has emerged
to solve the issues of limited bandwidth, high latency, and protocol
inefficiencies. These embedded Linux appliances can make your remote users
feel as if they are on the local LAN and allow distributed organizations to
centralize most IT infrastructure.

Greg King will describe how these devices enable WAN performance
improvements of up to 100 times or more, and will include a demo of the
technology using the award winning WAN acceleration appliances from Riverbed
Technology, Inc.

Greg King is Director Technical Service with One Network Inc., a Calgary
based network solutions company.

Admission is free - Donations to the Calgary Food Bank gratefully accepted.
