I did, and it looks good, but I have more info and stuff that doesn't
seem to fit in with their fixed formats. (family history notes, various
images for each person, resources for the person (like published works),
etc.). I guess I'm looking for the option to keep a more elaborate
history for family members - where they've lived, significant events in
their lives, jobs they've had, schools they went too, their hobbies, etc...

the phpmyfamily thing is in the same boat - covers the basics, but
doesn't seem to fit with my particular needs.

So either I'm not clearly understanding the details (likely - I'm not an
expert on family trees/histories), or my view of what is needed would
mean an enhancement to an existing system. But the little work I've
done with Gramps seems to suggest the latter.

If y'all feel I'm still out to lunch here (or making tipe-oes), please
let me know. Otherwise, Nick and I (and anyone else interested) can
start a conversation off list about the topic.

(I came across http://lythgoes.net/genealogy/software.php while
searching Drupal's forums for family tree type postings. This looks
promising, and is cheap.)
