Hi, I've setup and installed a new Linux server running Sme Server V7 (using Samba 3.0.10) and using Windows XP workstations.
I'm having a problem in that when installing some software onto the server samba share, I receive the following errors in my messages file Sep 26 01:28:48 dragonsvr smbd[27407]: [2006/09/26 01:28:48, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_socket_data(430) Sep 26 01:28:48 dragonsvr smbd[27407]: write_socket_data: write failure. Error = Connection reset by peer Sep 26 01:28:48 dragonsvr smbd[27407]: [2006/09/26 01:28:48, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_socket(455) Sep 26 01:28:48 dragonsvr smbd[27407]: write_socket: Error writing 51 bytes to socket 23: ERRNO = Connection reset by peer Sep 26 01:28:48 dragonsvr smbd[27407]: [2006/09/26 01:28:48, 0] lib/util_sock.c:send_smb(647) Sep 26 01:28:48 dragonsvr smbd[27407]: Error writing 51 bytes to client. -1. (Connection reset by peer) and I get a windows error - "Windows delayed write failed" and to check the computer hardware or network connections. The installation may abort or sometimes even continues for a while longer before receiving more errors and finally aborting. The errors only appear during the software installation, which is large(1.4Gb), and not in the usual day to day operation of samba. This is happening on more than 1 XP workstation, so I do not believe the problem is there. Nor is it happening in the same part of the software installation, but generally towards the middle/end of the install. Running top, I see the smbd process taking between 5 and 15% of the cpu and the load average is 5.49, 3.08, 2.29 (not sure what that means, or what it should be). I've searched for a solution, but there appears to be a lot of similar problems with no solutions. I don't know if this is a network issue, a server hardware issue, samba issue or anything else, nor do I know how to start tracking this down. Any suggestions on troubleshooting or solving this issue much appreciated at this point.
