Um... isn't that kinda... well... stupid? (no offense). Why would you try to virtually boot into an OS that is already running? You can do some real damage to your installation. Multiple OSes and trying to access the same resources, like /proc or /tmp, that the OS expects to have solitary access to? I think VMWare itself will either prevent this, or become incredibly unstable. Not to mention there can't be any need for doing so. (If you need the OS, you're already there. If you need to test something, that's what a VIRTUAL machine is for, not a connection to the existing machine).
