Heh...many people don't know much about the history.
There's so much political pain surrounding it that everyone's scared to
talk about it. However, the 25-cent tour looks something like Linus had
a kernel and no OS and the FSF crew had all the important parts of an OS
but no kernel. Since they were all licensed openly, people started
throwing them together to create an OS.
Of course there's more to it...but nothing really interesting.

I know because I, personally, once emailed RMS and asked him if he

talk to a bunch of "Linux" users. After soundly beating me about the
head and shoulders with the GNU bat, he agreed. Good history lesson
learned that day. I think it should be rewritten not for any political
reason, but because it's just plain wrong.
I just know this is going to start a flame war...
