I have used Thawte and have been very happy with them with regards to
the process, support, etc. They also offer a free e-mail certificate
program as well.

Although I have been checking out some of products from the Comodo Group
(www.comodo.com). They offer free (for any use in perpetuity) security
software as well as offering SSL certs as well. I belive they have a 90
day trial for an SSL cert. One thing I like about them is that they
also seem to be a Linux company as well. I think there product is
Trustix?

If you are using IE7 one thing to be cautious of is it reportng that a
sites certificate has been revked even when it isn;t. I had this happen
with my work and I ended up have to disable the check for server &
publisher cert revocation options in order to even get my site to load.
Bot IE 7 is a pain in the arse!
