Today i met a programmer, we had a short chitchat , he would develop e-commerce and web stuff, using only closed source and proprietary technologies. That really got me intrested, so i went and asked him, what languages and systems he would work with? He would use php and Java mainly , and some js to get the fun going. I think i shattered his world when i broke it to him, that Java is GPL, and php is opensource, and one of his favorite heavy weight database engines is GPL too (SapDb) http://www.sapdb.org/ . I also told him about postgres, and it being under and Apache style open source license too. Needless to say, I left him thinking a bit. He was also intrested in where he could get a trial/demo version of postgresql ....
