I was about to rebuild my mythbox.  My roomate replaced it with a 
Microsoft MCE box about 8 months ago.  To say I loathe it is being 
generous.  We don't use the built in GUI for anything.  We browse 
samba/XP shares with explorer, and I watch TV with the ATI app (recorded 
TV with VLC, the built in viewer scrambles the video when you try to 
skip ahead).  Enough about that other, legacy OS.

I am sorry to hear about zap2it.  I may re-evaluate my TV needs now.
