Hi all, A co-worker is in the NE & SE quadrants of Calgary on business, and is having problems with his laptop operating system(unable to login to XP). I'm trying to help him restore his laptop to a usable state as quickly as possible.
One option would be to reset/create/crack a local password account so he could login as a local user. The laptop has XP Pro installed. I suggested he would be able boot off a live CD so that he might be able to work around the OS problems until he returns to the home office on Monday. Can anyone suggest a shop or a consultant that would burn Knoppix or another bootable distro & show him how to boot off CD? We'd happily pay to get his laptop(including the wireless network connection) functioning in the meantime. Installing Ubuntu would be an option as long as the previous OS was intact(dual boot) - he still needs to access the personal data saved on the laptop's hard drive when he gets back to his normal OS next week. Any suggestions of shops or contacts would be appreciated. Feel free to contact me off list as well. -- Lars Rasmussen lars.rasmussen < at symbol goes here> gmail.com _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
