Well I am finally going to move from my virtual hosting solution to a dedicated, collocated server. There just so many options these days that it would take me all day to research everything thoroughly so I thought I might leverage the knowledge and experience of the CLUG users.
After a bit or research/looking, I was thinking the combo below. I am assuming that the Opteron 2350 Barcelona will run on that Supermicro? Also, although the SM has embedded RAID (I plan on RAID-5), would I really benefit that much with a decent 3ware PCI-X card? Or, does anyone have any other suggestions? Just way to many processor options these days to make the choice an easy one. Budget is not set, but I would like to keep the server and 2 cpu's under $2500 (not including ram or drives). I plan on running CentOS 5 and the latest cpanel/whm so I can migrate from my existing setup. *Supermicro AS-1021M-T2RB Opteron Barcelona 2000 1U RM 4XSATA Hotswap RAID 2GBLAN 650W Redundant Blk* http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26066&vpn=AS-1021M-T2RB&manufacture=SuperMicro *AMD Opteron 2350 Quad Core Processor Socket F 2.0GHZ Barcelona 2MB 75W 65NM No Heatsink Retail Box* http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26158&vpn=OS2350WAL4BGEWOF&manufacture=AMD -- *Johnny Stork* Business & Technology Consultant [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
