Mark, I just wanted to show you this: http://ecrostech.com/AtmelAvr/Butterfly/index.htm
Some people may want to have the options that this, reasonably priced, board gives - here's a list: - an external power source using almost any DC wall-wart - an external power source using a battery - a power indicator LED - enough power for your own additional circuits - a serial 6-pin in-system programming header located at the rear of the assembly - a 10-pin JTAG in-circuit emulation (ICE) header located at the rear of the assembly - a DB9 connector on the left for a serial interface cable - a reset button on the right hand side - more than six square inches of prototyping area at the front - all interfaces brought to the edge of the prototyping area for easy access - an oscilloscope or multi-meter ground pin
