Hi All, I thought I would share something that I have started doing.
From now on when I need to communicate with someone (particularly a business or government agency) I am making it a point to request the following: * No HTML e-mail * No unsafe file formats (i.e MS Office) * Ratified ISO standard files (i.e. pdf, odt, ods & odp) Where appropriate I am including the reasons why I am requesting this & providing them with some alternatives, such as OpenOffice.org for generating any of the required files or other open source software. Hopefully this will generate some questions on their part & who knows.. maybe even make a difference. I am contemplating setting up a simple website outlining the above & then perhaps including that in my signature.
