If you can access the 'net, go to www.grc.com and purchase his SpinRite software. Most likely, SpinRite will enable you to make a full copy of your current hard drive to a new one. Then you update grub and mount the new drive as your primary and you're back into computing "heaven" ;-) . If you'r prefer me to do all that on your behalf, contact me off-list.
