I've tried a number of discs that I'm sure are actually audio CDs:
Propellerheads - decksandrumsandrockandroll, (c) 1998
Fennesz - Endless Summer, (c) 2001
Rhythm Formula redefined, (c) 1994
Keith Jarrett - The Melody at Night, (c) 1999
Keith Jarrett - The Koln Concert, (c) 1975
Diana Krall - The Girl in the Other Room, (c) 2004
Wynton Marsalis - Joe Cool's Blues, (c) 1995

I don't see any kind of sticker on any of the disks...

It doesn't seem to matter which disk I put in: it first spins up for a few
seconds, then stops, then spins up again, and then ends up what sounds to me
like the little laser head going back and forth in the carriage (whee,
whee...whee, whee...whee, whee...etc. until I hit eject).
