Good-evening All,

Does anybody know a bit about Blender?
I would like to create 3D characters and export them to DXF format (Or
some other 'common' CAD format)
I need it to create free scaleable texts from TTF fonts in a CAD system...

On windows there is a 'free' tool called Elefont (ELEvated-FONTs)
http://www.armanisoft.ch/webdesign/FrmDownloads.html,
I kicked out my last Windows system back in 2003...

My ultimate goal is to script things so I don't have to do anything
manual...
put short text in .txt file
Pick available .ttf font
... and magically there is a DXF created seconds later.

I found this on a Blender forum:
add>>>text>>>(go to edit window and select font)>>adjust
dimensions/bevel/spacing etc in edit window>>>alt C ( convert to curve
)>>alt C ( convert to mesh ) >> select all vertices in edit mode and
press 'remove doubles'. that's all there is too it. then export to .dxf

Seems easy, but I have never used Blender before so I failed miserably...
I have the feeling I am missing some basics...

Anybody willing to spend some one-on-one time in return for some coffee
and donuts?
If there are more people interested in this ... I will bring more
donuts. Maybe something for ProgSIG ?

Thanks

Peter
