Hi Dan and all,
Personally I use Xubuntu (which is great for little machines), but don't
use a graphical network manager.

You can use ifscheme to give the ability for different wireless schemes to
be automatically selected when the network is brought up. Each possible
sceniro is described and the first one found is used.

If you install DNS helper (?? can't remember the package name) you can
also specify the DNS servers to use.

An example /etc/network/interfaces might look like:
---
mapping $interface
     script /usr/sbin/ifscheme-mapping

iface $interface-clemson
     wireless-essid cuairnet
     wireless-key open $wep_key

iface $interface-home
     wireless-essid home
---

I'll be able to give a better example when I get home.

Cheers,
Simon.
