I think, given my precise application, the VNC idea (or something
substantially similar) might work the best. I have to admit that it
hadn't occurred to me. Drawing can easily be accomplished with something
like "paint".

Regarding the Inkscape suggestion, I had already discovered it but wrote
it off as too convoluted for a simple task. It has too many features
that simply wouldn't be used and the Pedro window popping up would
frighten my users.
