Hi Darcy,

If your bios is set to boot from the CD/DVD, then it should pick that up first 
before the hard drive. Vista should not affect/interfere with this process.

Check your bios to make sure that the CD/DVD is selected ahead of the hard 
drive.

If that doesn't work, do you have another computer around to test and see if 
your CD will boot?

As far as Vista and the MBR, there may be issues there that you would have to 
work out if you wanted to install Fedora in a dual-boot configuration, and 
that I don't have information on.
