It seems that chart bases the rankings of the languages by which appears 
most in the search engines.  That would seem to me to be a faulty guage 
on the popularity of a language.  I mean if the language allows 
something to be done easily, then I wouldn't have to be searching for 
details on how to do most things.  So it would seem that some of the 
popular languages may not be listed in the appropriate position - if 
"popular" is what is intended.  I don't really see "Visual Basic" as the 
third most popular programming language.  Third most searched for term, 
maybe....

Rather the page should probably be titled "Programming Languages by 
Search Statistics", or something similar.

Still, an interesting read on things.  But how is this different than 
Google Trends (http://google.com/trends)?  (A quick trend chart of 
"javascript, visual basic" shows quite the difference from the chart 
Simon posted).  Guess you have to take all statistics with a grain of salt?
