Hello Mark. Thanx for the reply. On this hp laptop I tried the line that you gave me below of : /sbin/shutdown -P and it told me that it didn't recognize this. I did it in a terminal window. I will just try this in su aswell, but if this should work... how do I get the command into the shut down script??
#2 on the eeepc. I looked at the little switch on the card and it is not in the locked position. Yesterday I installed a eeepc version of kubuntu and it did see and read both of the cards on the machine. I could also write to them so all the hardware is working. I reinstalled the standard xandro's on it again as this is probably best for me ( couldn't get the wireless working on the eeekubuntu and don't know enough to get it working ) so anyway... on the xandros its probably some read write permission I would imagine????? How do I check and if so..... how to change?? If it is really bugging you, there are a few things you can try. Last post here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=776036&page=3 "I had the same problem with Kubuntu 8.10, In the System Settings, Go to advanced->login manager, in that go to the ShutDown tab. For Halt, give the command :/sbin/shutdown -P This will enable shutdown." This may also be an issue with APM (the issue being it may not be enabled since your hardware is so much older than the OS, and I think new hardware uses ACPI.) > #2 question I was told that gustin might be able to answer?. Alternately, you may have caused it to be read-only if you made an /etc/fstab entry for it that has "ro" in the mount options. A third possibility is that card is not supported properly by the SD card reader. > Thanx and also thanx for the magazine that I won at the meeting. > > > Dan Mueller > -Mark C. ------------------------------ _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca End of clug-talk Digest, Vol 49, Issue 14 ***************************************** _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
