A question for all those virtualisation experts:

Is it possible to have a self contained Windows exe which contains a Linux
OS image, so that it can be run without having to install anything on the
Windows PC.

Not specifically needing vmware product, others would be OK too...

I'm looking for a way to demo a liveCD without having to reboot host machine.
Simon.

Hi Simon,

I am interested VMs but am certainly no expert - I've used QEMU to boot DOS and run old apps. This Linux screensaver for Windows article caught my attention awhile ago; maybe it's what you had in mind?

I believe it works like this: a Linux LiveCD runs on QEMU that installs on Windows as a screensaver app.
