It's an important note that the cold boot attack, while somewhat impractical, is not impossible. A well versed attacker with a hibernated machine picked up from a coffee shop or an airport (the stats for stolen laptops at airports are astonishing) could pull many valuable tidbits from memory - even if encryption passwords are not compr0mised in the process. Soooo.... if your data is uber-sensitive consider disabling hibernation to bolster any full disk encryption you employ.
I think I saw tools for doing this somewhere recently. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by the Cistra MailScanner and is believed to be clean. _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
