I do not see how this is at all important.  Linux and Open Source are
everywhere, from powering Facebook and Twitter, to running your TiVo.
Increasingly the "Desktop" is becoming irrelevant so to worry about the
fictional "Year of the Linux Desktop" is a waste of time IMO.

Most people I know are using Firefox on Windows, and to me this is a
huge win for Open Source.  Remember, Open Source is not just about Linux.

There are so many other things to worry about, like software patents,
copyright reform, Apple, the list goes on.
