Open source software is ANY piece of software whose 'source' (i.e source code) is open to peer review, correction, modification and/or upgrade. Nothing more, nothing less. The idea that it is a philosophy, belief and/or religion is laughable. A community of people and/or entities who benefits from said piece of software can exist in coherent superposition of all interest allowed by its environment (greed, self-interest, ethical belief, lack of a better idea, etc.) simply because open source software is what it is: ANY piece of software whose 'source' (i.e source code) is open to peer review, correction, modification and/or upgrade
