another way to resolve this (there is always more than one way) is to
install the ubuntu-restricted-extras package. You can find the package
in the Add/Remove Software, or you can open a terminal/command prompt
window and type in:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
and then enter your password (for the user you are logged in as).
This will give you the ability to play Flash, as well as installing the
tools needed to properly play/burn MP3s, various video formats, and a
number of "standard" windows fonts.

Hi,
I am new to Linux. I have used it before, but never installed.
I just installed Ubuntu 9.04. I went to Youtube using Firefox and
discovered that I dont have Adobe Flash player.
I downloaded that from adobe site. It is a rpm file. I came to know that
it does not open in ubuntu as it is for red hat.
I have to convert it to .deb and I need a software Alien for that. I
downloaded Alien.
Now I am trying to convert the .rpm file to .deb using alien and again
getting so many error messages.
Could anybody please tell me step by step, how I can do this?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my ignorance.
Regards,
Pradeep.
