At the meeting last week we talked about the Eye-Fi SD/WiFi cards. I was wrong about some of the features they have. You can configure them to automatically upload when they are in range of a pre configured WLAN. There is also a service offered by AT&T which means they can upload when you're close to any AT&T WLAN. Your camera does need to be on for the transfer to happen, however the card is very opportunistic. If you happen to be taking pictures while anywhere close to a WLAN the card will silently do the work in the background. Where the pictures go is configurable, if your at home they can go right onto your computer, if you're on the road they can go to photo services like Flickr and a few others. I was wrong about the geotagging support. They do geotag, but they use WLAN triangulation. They don't use GPS like I said. Obviously that really limits the cards usefulness outside of urban areas.
