I've got a HP Colour LaserJet CM1312nfi that I'm using and works well.
The scanner (and ADF) are supported by SANE and printing is supported by
CUPS. The memory card reader is a CIFS share so that's supported also.
It's a network printer so it's plugged into my LAN. I think most of the
newer multifunction LaserJets are supported also if you don't need colour.

I have an HP multifunction (HP Photosmart c7250) printer/fax/scanner.
HP provides linux drivers and a management applicaiton. It has wired
and wireless networking hence its on my home network. I can print, fax
and scan from anywhere in the house. Works very well as would most of
HP's gear.
My only problem with this particular unit is that it guzzles ink and
the ink cartridges are expensive. Also, invariably, when I go to print
on it its been idle for a few days and it launches into a self
diagnostic and head cleaning operation that is both loud and slow. If
I'm on the phone I have to leave the office to be heard!

can anyone recommend a scanner model that works well with linux? at
one time you could count on epson scanners, but i dont think that is
true any more.
