Simon -- Embedded Software Developer - (Full time permanent position) Posting # 125A POINT Inc. has an opening in its Systems Engineering Team. Responsibilities include the design, development, and maintenance of TOPCON Sokkias integrated Systems Software. Position Summary POINT, Inc., a division of TOPCON SOKKIA Corporation has offices in Olathe, Kansas, USA and Calgary, Alberta, Canada. POINT develops high-quality innovative solutions for high-end GNSS applications (geodetic survey, construction, agriculture GIS or telematics) by integrating diverse leading-edge electronics, hardware and software. As part of the Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for developing, testing and maintaining many of TOPCON Sokkias integrated systems. You will work very closely with all disciplines in a cross functional project team (SW, Electrical, Mechanical, Project Management, etc ) within POINT as well as with other TOPCON Engineering and Product Teams. You have exceptional embedded SW development skills and you have a strong background in SW development life cycle processes. You will be expected to write and maintain high quality technical documentation (Guides, Conceptual designs, technical specifications, etc ). You must have an excellent understanding of electronic system hardware, real world interfaces and communication interfaces (Ethernet, RS232, USB, etc...). Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent Strong experience in Embedded Systems Design with exceptional C/C++ programming skills (5 years Min) Experience with Real Time Operating Systems is critical. Demonstrated experience with embedded Linux (with real time extensions) is highly desired. Familiarity with software version control and defect tracking tools is important You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills to work successfully within a cross functional project team. Must follow quality software documentation practices, be free to share ideas and discuss issues and problems with team members and leaders. Self motivated and hardworking with willingness to take ownership and complete assignments meeting agreed upon time, cost, and quality. Desirable Skills: Experience with desktop application programming would be beneficial, but not essential. Basic Database knowledge, such as MySQL is desired. NTRIP protocol knowledge and Network communications experience is beneficial.
