I haven't looked at printers for a while, but...

Typically Samsung and Brother work well with Linux these days. HP too, but usually with their higher end models. HP's lower end models are hit and miss. (based on my past experience...)

If you are willing to do a little research, take a look at what the local shops are offering, and then see what they say about those models at http://www.openprinting.org/printers/. Keeping in mind that some of the "100% working" models may require some additional effort on your part (compiling drivers, downloading foomatic updates, etc.)

Generally though, most black/white lasers will work just fine. Color lasers too, but the color profiles may not be quite right.

Let us know what you end up going with, and how it works for you... This is something I kinda miss about CLUG - hardware recommendations...
