Hello all, I heard that squeeze is now Debian Stable, so I burnt debian-6.0.0-i386-CD-1as my brother suggested and installed it on my lap top. I am a little weak on systems administration, so I chose all the standard installation parameters and choices, and it worked beautifully.
I am well pleased by Debian Stable. Even though I am weak in System administration I am good at remembering passwords and never right the passwords down. I do write down password clues, but the clues use a logic most people do not know. However, I believe if you guys at clug saw my password clues you could figure out my passwords, so I never bring anything containing my password clues to a meeting. I also open my mail in text mode for security, and open HTML only when I feel safe. I learnt from Clug never to put my name and complete address on a public list and will not do that again in the future. That gaff shows that I am a little weak in the security aspects of system administration. I am slowly improving my system administration skills. The next step in making squeeze more useful is intsalling all the alsa and sound and video applications. Right now I can watch and listen to on line video and audio on my desk top computer, but not the lap top computer. If I could get it working on my lap top I could listen to music and watch video clips without disturbing the neighbours by plagging my head set into the lap top. mys head set has both headphones and a microphone. Because of the time I need to spend practising piano right now I will leave installing applications needed for sound until I am a little less busy. But when I do have the time I will try to install the sound applications and all their dependencies to improve my system administration skills. If I get stuck I may contact this list and will try to show what is happening by telling what I am trying to do and use either screen shots or logging scripts to get accurate pictures of what is going on. For now I will just delight in the fact that evolution has finally been fixed in squeeze. I can still have a lot of fun with what I have working in squeeze.
