The PFsense GUI is very good, the problem I have is when I want to step outside of the GUI, I have to deal with PF which I do not like.
My biggest beef with BSD as a router is that they tend to be badly misconfigured (eg. packet scrubbing is a bad idea made worse when your TCP/IP stack is 5 years or more old) and just left behind without any updates.
