Hey,

I've picked up a couple of the Amazon Kindle 3's.  That's the B&W E-Ink display 
one with the little button keyboard.

I use it as a reader only, it doesn't do anything else.  Battery life is 
measured in weeks with moderatly heavy usage, months when it's just tucked in a 
drawer.

I travel for work and having tech docs in ebook form is a life saver.  Being 
able to DL anything else I need in under 5 min from anywhere my cell works is 
always worth the cost - my clients have never argued with these kind of 
expenses.

No colour does suck but basically never worrying about charging it is a big 
plus.

My biggest complaint with the device is that it is a bit fragile (I broke the 
first one I bought).  i bought cases for the 2 I have now and they've been fine.
