I ended up getting an HD7700 series with 2GB. Will be installing it
later tonight.

Regarding dual monitors, I see most modern cards have different
connector types (VGA/DVI/HDMI/Display Port). Any recommendations
for dual monitors? My monitors all support HDMI, but I haven't seen
a card yet with more than one HDMI port.
This is what happens when you ignore the hardware side of things for

Recent ATI/AMDs usually work out of the box. Anything later than an
HD4000 and you should be good to go. I personally have a 5770 and a
6950 that both work with Ubuntu (I am currently using KDE on 12.04).
Out of the box they worked with dual and triple monitors.

favoring Intel graphics cards. BUT, now I need some hardware
acceleration to do some CAD work. Problem is I have lost

support CAD type operations. I'm hearing Nvidia is a "bad
company"
with regards to Linux support. Intel seems to be lacking

acceleration department (current Intel Card isn't good enough).
That leaves ATI but I can't find anything solid that says
ATI will
work. What's the right flavor this year? :)
