catching up to the digital age A very long time ago I read a book by an uber futurist (can't remember the authors name)[A]. Some of what he thought was going to happen is only starting now. The book clearly laid out the ease of scaling and how that would change everything. Trouble was many insisted on doing things the old fashioned (broken) way, and blaming every one but them selves. But what was clear to him back then, lots of people are figuring out now. And that is encouraging.
There are so many related topics, but to start with, here are two: 1/ Re-inventing Publishing and "Tools Of Change" (TOC) Look up: O Reilly TOC Tools of Change for Publishing To get the best of toc 2013 pdf file you are required to register and then buy the $0.00 pdf book. Publishing is not just books and ebooks. It includes media like video and audio and "interactive" venues. Like how about the app Shazam that was made practical by parallel GPU computing on the server side. 2/ Deploy your own "cloud" with Debian "Wheezy" http://www.debian.org/News/2012/20120425 David, is this how you made your home cloud (Software as a service - SaaS) last month? [A] With out his name my digital search for his book "Thinking Digital" came up blank. (he wrote it before the digital age) _______________________________________________ clug-talk mailing list [email protected] http://clug.ca/mailman/listinfo/clug-talk_clug.ca Mailing List Guidelines (http://clug.ca/ml_guidelines.php) **Please remove these lines when replying
