You are at least the second person to show interest in this months
meeting, so I will be there.

The name of Kin's program was sweethome3d Michael. To install it
on your Wheezy stable I suggest running:
aptitude update [enter key]
and then:
aptitude install sweethome3d [enter key]
then: a list of sweethome3d and its dependencies will show ready for
install.
Y/n, so push [enter key] or Y

It seems to work so far when I run sweethome3d &

Virtual view and create photo also worked on my system.

But it moans with:
mwalters@hawk:~$ [warning] /usr/bin/sweethome3d: Unable to
locate /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/javaws.jar in /usr/share/java

Hello all,

I am very interested in attending the next CLUG meeting on Wednesday
2013 July 3 at 18:00 (6:00 p.m.)

I am very interested in learning some basic system administration skills
so that I will not be so totally on my brother Mel for installing,
upgrading, and configuring software.

Here are a few examples of what I would like to learn how to do:

I was able to get my Samsung printer - scanner working in Debian Squeeze
but for some reason could only get my printer working on my desktop
computer in Debian Wheezy. I would like to configure my Samsung Unified
Driver to work with scanner functionality using something like simple
scan.

I was able to with the help of my brother to get a number of programs to
work with my current hardware. I would like to install an interior
design program that Kin Wong demonstrated a long time ago. I would like
Kin to send me the URL off list so that I could model my apartment and
print out the plans on my printer. Since the printer is working fine I
just need to install the package again, but have misplaced the URL.

I would like to know what kind of hardware to get so that I can replace
my headphones with either bluetooth speakers or USB speakers of medium
quality for a good price. I would love to take suggestions as to what
kind of hardware to get as Debian Wheezy works very well for streaming
video, extracting CD's to ogg files and playing them, and playing You
tube videos. I have some cheap ten dollar speakers, but would like to
have better quality sound to share with friends. I have already done so
with my headphones, but my guest and I can not listen to the sound
together - hence the desire to get speakers.

Advice on hardware may be a little off topic at ClUG so you guys may
want to contact me off list.

I would also like to see a presentation on some LINUX topic by Robin
and/or other tech savy women in CLUG. I know Robin is much much better
than I am at system administration in LINUX.

I hope to see you all at Wednesday's meeting, if others want to share
some interesting ideas. I plan to bring a notebook.

Regards,

Michael
