I checked all of the mixer volumes on both the Lin & Win sides & have
them amped up as high as they will go.  But still the volume is
"supposedly" not as high as it should be.  I am not sure if maybe
looking for a better Win driver might work but the sound is showing as
generic because it is going through VB (obviously) so I am not sure that
would even make a difference.  That is why I was wondering if I could
determine something on the host to give it that little extra.

Yeah I kind of thought that about the printing.  I think now that the
USB is working through VB I should be able to connect it that way at
least on that machine.

I hear what you are saying about VB...but ease of use was the main goal
with it so there are always going to be some trade offs.
