Did you disable UEFI booting in your bios? And is your laptop 64 bit?
:: trying to get the story straight:
1.:you have a 64 bit applience that you need to run inside a virtual
box.
2.:therefor you downloaded a 64 bit ubuntu to run the vm on the virtual
box running inside the 64 bit ubuntu.
3.: your other partition is a windows ...
q1a: is your windows 64 bit?
q1b: is your laptop 64 bit ?
q2a: how much ram does your laptop has?
