We did had some transient massive memory leaks issues with both the Intel driver (somewhere in end 2008/first half 2009) and with development versions of clutter/clutter-gst (but no distribution should have packaged these ones anyway). What I can say is that I don't remember 1.2 leaking and master of everything seems to work here.
