That did it for me, thanks. 
As Emmanuele Bassi said, you can also just set the environment variable 
CLUTTER_DISABLE_MIPMAPPED_TEXT by executing export 
CLUTTER_DISABLE_MIPMAPPED_TEXT=1
in the shell, but this is for all applications utilizing clutter.

Did it work for you to compile MX toolkit under OSX? How did you do that?
