I just tried master and indeed I can reproduce the issue even without gstreamer-vaapi. As you can see master hasn't be really tested extensively. You could tried to bisect (git bisect) until you find the culprit commit (1.4.x should work). I'll try to get some time to look at it as well, but time on clutter-gst is scarce at the moment.
