I would like to add that with nVidia cards, these usually co-operate well without problems. I am running Compiz and Clutter at the same time with no issues except for the issue on the nVidia driver that clutter_label causes the driver to feel like a floating point error. The same experience from GeForce 8800GTX at home and the Quadro on my laptop, effects (wobble, translucency, whatever) work nicely while clutter actors are being animated on the wobbled/otherwise manipulated window. On my experience with ATI was that the effects didn't even work. At home the effects are turned off because, despite there are no issues from that with clutter, there used to be issues when running X-plane 8 flight simulator. Haven't tested yet with the version 9 and with the more recent compiz (it was earlier version back then when I last time disabled it at home, on my new laptop I am using the hardy-version as the system is hardy).
