Yes, thanks.  I've applied the patch:

 Ninja: Use binary dir for `$subdir/all` targets

I rewrote the commit message only because your beautiful and
detailed explanation of what happened was more about the symptom
and analysis than the actual fix.  That was useful to have in
the mailing list post though!

BTW, please see the recently updated `CONTRIBUTING.rst` file for the
new preferred contribution path (now through our GitLab instance).
