I am interested in any support or ideas before I attempt to take this project on.
I haven't a clue about what is needed for cross-compiling. But I will mention there are rumblings in Chicken Scheme land about the importance of cross-compiling. The perceived need for cross-compiling stands in the way of getting some people to ditch the GNU Automake build in favor of the CMake build. In the future I'd like to be able to tell such people that CMake has something to say about cross-compiling. As a stopgap, I've offered to package up generated Chicken .c files so that they're all one easily accessible place, and possibly template a sample Makefile, with the idea that people will provide their own build systems for embedded systems. Chicken is receiving embedded systems interest because it does talk well to C, and because Scheme is a small language very suitable for embedding.
