I hope there is a "real" answer to this question, but I've solved a similar problem for us by setting the "Site name" (CTEST_SITE in ctest scripts) to something which indicates the OS/version/bit-depth/etc. This obviously doesn't scale to more than a couple key pieces of information, but it may help. It does have the benefit of putting this information in a very visible spot on the dashboard.
You can also set CTEST_BUILD_NAME to hold a couple other pieces of data. I use that to specify which build flags were used and which subset of tests was run.
