When I use cmake 2.8.2 with Debian 6.0:

You have changed variables that require your cache to be deleted.
Configure will be re-run and you may have to reset some variables.

Did you run 2.8.4rc2 in a clean directory? Or did you try to run it on
top of the 2.8.2 build?
