The Visual Studio addin is from vscommands.com and is mentioned in this bug report on the issue:
http://public.kitware.com/Bug/view.php?id=11258 As you can tell from reading through the notes, we never did find a satisfactory solution to the problem... issue is still open, but folks who've tried vscommands report that it reduces the pain.
