Encouraged by that Wine build and test success I would like to install

difficulties with the Cygwin GUI installer.

Hmm. Contrary to my expectations difficulties with that GUI installer
for Cygwin occurred for Wine-1.5.19 to the point that the first
install was unable to complete the final step of the install (which
might not matter since that final step appears to just be cleanup).
However, subsequent use of the installer hung a lot earlier in the
process due to a pre-existing file it didn't know how to overwrite
(perhaps a file that should have been removed by the last cleanup step
of the first install). It is possible I could obtain a useful Cygwin
installation if I start fresh and specify every package that I need
without ever going back to attempt refining the set of packages. But
that is pretty inconvenient so I will try a later version of wine
first to see if that takes care of some/all of these installer issues.
