Corey,
Awesome explaination! Thanks.
I would like to know how you downloaded PDR, etc into your PDA. What kind of software do you have to have? Just Windows CE/pocket PC? Will that allow you to download Acrobat, word, excel etc? Please let me know.. Thanks jennifer

A PDA is the term used to refer to a "Personal Digital Assistant", and it is a hand held computer. The common ones on the market are the Palm Pilot and the Ipaq by Compaq. There are numerous others. They tend to be grouped into Palm operating systems, Win CE devices and Pocket PC operating systems. It is my humble opinion that the best ones are those running the Pocket PC system as they handle more memory, can run multiple programs at once and there are more programs designed for them. (Now, every Palm Pilot owner on the planet is going to log on and flame me, but so be it!) These devices hook up to your computer so that you can load and download programs and information. Mine has the PDR, the 5 Minute Clinical Consult, MDS reference information on it, and the MDS manual loaded. I can also call up a database that I wrote (it's easy w/ the directions!) that has every PPS patient, their dx., current chief complaint, current meds, and dates for their assessments on it in about 3 seconds! I can also use the modem if I wish (I don't) to check my email, but not all PDA's allow this capability, and some only with certain ISP's. Usually, the most important feature on these units is the amount of loadable memory available. Most of the WinCE and Pocket PC devices will allow the addition of a small chip that adds additional memory, most of them VERY reasonably priced. (A minimal amount of memory for medical use is about 64 megabytes, and yoiu can add a compact flash card w/ an additional 64 MB of memory for $48 or a secure digital card for about $62.00 When I first got mine, I couldn't figure out what to do with it. Now I can't go to work one day without it!Corey----- Original Message -----From: Bogda HabichSent: Sunday, October 26, 2003 10:58 AMSubject: Re: PDA.....What is PDA?
